February engagements in the UK

On February 21st Danny Driver returns to the London Pianoforte Series at Wigmore Hall with a challenging and virtuosic programme that features Chopin's complete Op 25 Piano Études and Beethoven's last Piano Sonata Op 111, as well as music by J S Bach and a selection of Études by the Hungarian composer György Ligeti.  Other engagements during February include Grieg's A minor Piano Concerto with the Orchestra of Opera North in Huddersfield, and a concert of chamber music by Thomas Adès at the Southbank Centre including his recent work for 'cello and piano Lieux Retrouvés.

For more information about Wigmore Hall or to book tickets visit  http://www.wigmore-hall.org.uk. You can catch excerpts of Danny's programme live on BBC Radio 3's programme 'In Tune' on the afternoon of February 20th.

Forthcoming international engagements

The Minnesota Orchestra

Danny has an exciting summer ahead of him, making his debut with the Minnesota Orchestra and conductor Andrew Litton in July with Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto and, in more lighthearted mode, a repeat performance of Franz Reizenstein's Concerto Popolare which he previously performed at the 2011 BBC Proms.  He will also be returning to the Bard Music Festival in upstate New York, where he will perform music by Saint-Saens, this year's featured composer.

New recordings

April will see the release of Danny's latest CD on the Hyperion label, this time the two Piano Concertos of Scottish composer, conductor and musical entrepreneur Erik Chisholm (1904-1965).  These were recorded in June 2011 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Rory Macdonald. Before then Danny will be in the studio on two occasions: this month recording a sequel to his 2010 disc of C P E Bach's Keyboard Works (a record that was picked as Editor's Choice in Gramophone and shortlisted as one of 2010's Ten Best Classical CDs by National Public Radio), and in late March when he continues his exploration of York Bowen's music together with violinist Chloë Hanslip.
